There is nothing like live local theatre and City Park Players begins its 63rd Season on February 25, 2011 with The Lion in Winter by James Goldman. Directed by Diane Falcone, the larger-than-life characters will be brought to life in the Hearn Stage, a black box theatre, in the Kress Theatre space of the Rapides Foundation Building, Downtown Alexandria, 1102 3rd Street. Performances continue on February 26 & 27 and March 4 through 6.
Next up May 20 – 29 is The Subject Was Roses by Frank D. Gilroy. Director Ed Reed will present John and Nettie Cleary and their son Timmy, who has just returned home from war, in this study of theatrical domestic realism. We specifically chose these dates to correspond with Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day. Watch for more information about our Community Connections Partnership.
July 22 – 31, brings the sassy, jazzy celebration of Ain’t Misbehavin’ with music by Fats Waller. The season’s productions conclude in October with Noel Coward’s improbable farce Blithe Spirit directed by Frith Harwood.
